Synopsis
The structural feature of the gas-filled automotive shock absorber is that a floating piston is installed at the lower part of the cylinder, and the closed air chamber formed by the floating piston and the cylinder is filled with high-pressure nitrogen. Above the floating piston is the shock absorber fluid. The floating piston is equipped with a large-section O-ring, which completely separates oil and gas. This piston is also called a gas-sealing piston. Gas-filled automotive shock absorbers can improve the ride control characteristics of the shock absorber.
