Low background liquid scintillator (LBL) is a scintillation detector used in particle physics experiments to detect and measure low-energy neutrino. This is a liquid based detector that uses a mixture of organic solvents and scintillating molecules to detect the interaction between neutrino and atomic nuclei. The LBL detector is designed to have a very low level of background radiation, which may interfere with the measurement of low-energy neutrino. To achieve this, the detector is shielded by layers of lead, copper, and other materials that can absorb or deflect background radiation. LBL detectors are used in various neutrino experiments, including those aimed at studying solar neutrino, atmospheric neutrino and reactor neutrino.
