Synopsis
A separate surge arrester is a device used to protect power system equipment from overvoltage damage. It usually consists of splitters, surge arresters and switching devices. The main function of the separate surge arrester is to guide the overvoltage to the surge arrester when overvoltage is detected in the power system, thereby protecting other equipment from overvoltage. It is connected to the power system equipment through a switching device. When an overvoltage occurs in the power system, the separator will separate the power system from the arrester to avoid damage to the equipment caused by the overvoltage.
