Synopsis
Particle-Enhanced Turbidimetric Immunoassays or PETIA is a biochemical process which uses optical change i.e. change in opaqueness caused by the agglutination of immunoparticles in the sample. These immunopartilcles are nothing but nanoparticles coated with antibodies. Their reaction with taken sample makes the mixture cloudy. A monochromatic light is then passed through the mixture to determine the opaqueness of turbidity of the mixture. Based on the absorption of light and pre-determined calibrations as per known and standardized concentrations, quantitative measurements of body fluid components like proteins, pathogens, serums, urine, plasma, etc can then be taken.
